Guild, a British esports group, is involved in some of the most popular games in the industry, and they announced in November 2020 that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be their next game of choice.
Since then, almost a year has gone, and followers of the David Beckham-owned organisation will be aware that they have yet to sign a roster and compete in the Valve title.
To ensure a good entry into CS:GO, Guild even hired analyst and journalist Duncan ‘Thorin' Shields as a consultant. He stated at the time of the announcement that he would assist the organisation in "developing their model for the squad and providing advice on players and staff."
Guild Esports' CEO, Kal Hourd, detailed where they stand on formally entering the first-person shooter in an exclusive conversation with Dexerto spanning all aspects of the British team.

In an in-depth interview with Dexerto, Hourd said, "We declared that we were looking into CS:GO, we had an interest in entering and still do, but there's been a lot of changes on the CS:GO front, and our attention has been pulled in other ways."
“We promised our stockholders that we would make informed decisions and enter titles that were appropriate. We're excited about a few other games, but we're still thinking about CS:GO.”
Guild was the first esports firm to be listed on the London Stock Exchange, making it a public corporation that allows retail investors — average people looking to invest in companies they believe in — to own a piece of the company.
Like any company, they must make decisions that appear sound and sensible in order to maintain shareholder trust and drive their stock price in the proper direction.
While CS:GO isn't off the table for Guild, their CEO commented on the fact that there are other titles that have piqued their interest since the launch in November. They presently have players competing in CS:GO, Rocket League, FIFA, and Fortnite.
“I can't really disclose,” Hourd told Dexerto, “but I can say we're interested in EA and Riot Games, as well as some titles that are popular in other countries.” “It is possible to expand outside of the United Kingdom.”
League of Legends, which has a well-developed competitive system, auto battler Teamfight Tactics, collectible card game Legends of Runeterra, and mobile game League of Legends: Wild Rift are among Riot Games' other products.
Although EA has a large number of titles, few of them have well-established competitive scenes. Apart from FIFA, their most popular esports titles are Apex Legends, a battle royale game, and Madden NFL, an American football game.
So, while there hasn't been any visible progress on Guild signing their own CS:GO team, they haven't given up hope that it may happen in the future if the perfect opportunity arises.
